Prayer Link

The Convocation Service for Atlantic Baptist University will be held on Saturday, May 2nd. Please pray for the graduates as they seek God’s ongoing leading, as well as for the staff and faculty as they prepare for this special day in the lives of graduates, alumni, students and the University.

Summer Ministry Coordinators Jobs

The CE Committee will hear within a couple of weeks whether we will receive government grants. Because we have agreed to an open competition, particularly with visible minorities and those with disabilities, we will advertise in a variety of ways. With this in mind, we are re-opening the job postings for 3 summer ministry coordinators positions with hopes that we will be awarded grants. The jobs are all post- secondary education positions. We will also consider persons who are completing Grade 12 who are going on to post-secondary education this fall. However, the proposed start date would be May 20 and Grade 12 candidates would need to be willing to work part-time until school was finished. Please contact church office for further info and submit resumes to church office

Commissioning Service Coming up Soon

On May 10th, three men who were or still are members of our church - Lic. Kevin Haggarty, (our Youth Pastor and son of members Ian and Jeanette Haggarty) Borden Scott (son of members Walter and Susan Scott) and Christopher Drew (son of former members Ken and Sandra Drew and grandson of member Annie Pierce) will graduate from Acadia Divinity College. On May 8th at 7:30pm there will be a special Commissioning service at Wolfville Baptist Church to which we are all invited. (Unfortunately Kevin will not be present as he is taking about 20 of our teens to a special youth conference in Moncton.)

Plant Sale

The Floral Committee is organizing a Plant Sale for May 30th.  We are looking for donations of perennials, bushes, bulbs (Iris, Dahlias, Glads).  Ice cream and margarine containers or cut down milk cartons can be used for transplanting.  If you can help, plants can be left at the church office from Wednesday, May 27 to Friday, May 29 from 9-12noon.  Please indicate plant’s name and color if known.  Also a Garden Accessories table is planned so donations of tools, bird feeders, garden accents or garden books would be appreciated.

Any question call Sandra @ 835-5893.

Thank you

Blessed are those who give without remembering.  And blessed are those who take without forgetting.  Bernard Meltzer

The Stewardship Committee would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone involved with the Bean and Brown Bread Luncheon. Thank you to those who so kindly baked brown bread, beans and others who gave many donations. To all who helped with the set up, those who helped during the meal and people who gave a big hand with the clean up, we say “thank you.”  We are overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity of time and thoughtfulness in helping us in so many ways. Last, but not least, a BIG “Thank You” to all of you who came to the Bean and Brown Bread Luncheon.  Your support is very important ad we are truly grateful for your attendance and financial gifts. With everyone’s help God’s house will be warmer in many ways. Stewardship Committee.

Convention Consultations on General Operating By-law

Tuesday, April 28 from7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Cornwallis Street Baptist Church,

The latest draft of the proposed General Operating By-law is available on the Convention’s website at www.baptist-atlantic.ca. The document contains a tracking of all the revisions that have been made to the first draft since January 2008. It is our aim to provide a 30-minute overview of the revised By-law and then open the floor up for discussion. Anyone who is unable to attend one of these sessions is invited to submit comments and suggestions to the Incorporation Working Group in writing or by e-mail. Your input will be reviewed carefully as we prepare a third and final draft after the consultations have taken place. This third draft will be made available in December 2009 after it has been reviewed by the Convention’s lawyer and has been approved by Council. It will then be brought forward for adoption at the Assembly in 2010. We are grateful for your prayers, comments and ongoing support as we continue in this process. In Christ, Rev. David DuBois, President, Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches
