Please pray that this will be a “Holy Week” of reflection for Christians and that our churches will be effective in reaching out to the many during this Easter Season who will be open to the spiritual truth of God’s redemptive love.

Plant Sale

The Floral Committee is organizing a Plant Sale for May 30th. We are looking for donations of perennials, bushes, bulbs (Iris, Dahlias, Glads). Please remember us as you begin working in your garden. Perhaps you, your friends or family are ready to thin their transplants and would be willing to share with us. Ice cream and margarine containers or cut down milk cartons can be used for transplanting. If you can help, plants can be left at the church office from Wednesday, May 27 to Friday, May 29 from 9-12noon. Please indicate plant’s name and color if known. Also a Garden Accessories table is planned so donations of tools, bird feeders, garden accents or garden books would be appreciated. Any question call Sandra l835-5893.

Spring Thaw Beans & Brown Bread Luncheon

On Sunday April 19th the Stewardship Committee will host their annual Baked Beans and Brown Bread luncheon following the morning worship service. Proceeds from the freewill offering at the luncheon will be used to offset the heating expenses for the church. In order to make the luncheon a success we are asking for donations of baked beans and/or brown bread. A signup sheet is in the foyer for anyone able to help.

Thank You With Love Dr. Ida

Thank you for the wonderful gift of last Sunday’s celebration. Thank you for all your kind remembrances both within the worship service and at the time of reception. (special preacher, special music, prayers, songs, power-point, photo album, flowers, reception set-up, decorations, cards, gifts, money tree, poems/letters, skit, presentations, kind words, “Honey”, lovely food.) I was both overwhelmed and humbled by your care, generosity and encouragement.

I would also like to say a thank you on behalf of my immediate and extended family who you so warmly invited and welcomed on Sunday. You witnessed to them by your kindness.

There was an incredible amount of time, effort and creativity that went into last week’s celebration by both the Planning Committee and many others which was a tremendous gift in itself. We talk about the church being the family of God and you certainly gave me that experience of family joy and love as you joined with me in celebration of God’s faithfulness to us as a church.

I am grateful for the opportunity that God has given to be one of your pastors; to have worked alongside so many of you. I’d like to thank Kevin, Bob and Nelson for their partnership in ministry and support through the years.

We have seen many changes in the past 20 years –we are all older and maybe wiser, we have grown in our faith journey with Christ – we have learned more of His love and as we have trusted Him, He has endeavoured to mould us into His Likeness. I have seen God’s hand upon us. I thank God for His faithfulness to us as a congregation and pray that we will continue to be His witnesses to our world.

Sunday Evening Small Group Studies

You are welcome to join in! The groups are starting April 19 at 6:30 and will go until June 7 with the exception of Victoria Day weekend! Coffee and conversation from 6:30 – 6:45.

  • Exploring your Faith – discussion time!

Perhaps you have some questions you would like to explore a bit. This group is open to experienced and new believers who want to look together at some of the important issues surrounding their faith. So old and new, come join us as we share, learn and laugh together. Group facilitators – Louise and Bob Archibald

  • The Beatitudes – Developing Spiritual Character by  John Stott

The beatitudes reveal to us eight qualities that bring God's blessing: meekness and mercy, poorness in spirit and purity of heart, mourning and hunger, peacemaking and persecution. Jesus highlighted these to offer both encouragement and instruction on living distinctly as his followers in a world with values much different from God's. Eight studies are included in this study, one for each of the beatitudes. Group facilitator – Stephen Davidson

  • When God’s People Pray  by Jim Cymbala

This is a small group DVD series, in which award-winning author Jim Cymbala shows what the Holy Spirit can do when believers get serious about prayer and the Gospel. Cymbala tells how God moves in life-changing ways when we set aside our own agendas, take him at his Word, and listen for his voice. Come and be challenged to go to a new level in communication with God. Maybe you want to find out more about prayer and it’s purpose in your journey. If so, this is for you! Group facilitator – Goldye Smith

  • Being God’s Man – Finding Contentment (men only)

Men sometimes find it tough to be content with what they have. They compare themselves with others and come up short. The result is discouragement and disappointment. Lasting contentment comes only from a transformation of your mind, emotions and will. It also takes a personal encounter with God who can make you content. In this study you will track this new kind of life through various Bible passages. Your life can take on purpose and meaning that go beyond the striving. "Real life” case studies show how the truths you discover have worked out in other men's lives. Group facilitator - Bob Ohsberg

· 7 PM Fireside (youth 13 and up)

Facilitator: Kevin Haggarty Location: Heffler Room

This is a time to explore faith, build relationships, ask the hard questions and grow together as believers. It takes various forms throughout the year but always is a place to draw closer to God! ……. And one another!
