Prayer Link

Today is Father’s Day. Please pray for Dads in particular, but also for all men, that they will have the godly wisdom, maturity and fortitude to help shape our homes and communities to be places of protection, nurture and growth for all.

Prayer Card

Please be in prayer for Krista-Lee Bates who has begun her summer work as Daily Vacation Bible School Coordinator for the United Baptist Women’s Missionary Union. Krista-Lee is a member of our congregation and you are invited to pick up a prayer card, located in the foyer, which outlines her itinerary for the summer.

Bulletin Sponsor

Today’s bulletin has been given in loving memory of husband, father and grandfather, Wendell Mayhew,,, given by his wife and family.

Czech Update from Christy (Nickerson) and Miro Rak

Warm greetings and hugs from Czech Republic, land of fresh bread, goulash and a beautiful spring.  Since our last update we’ve settled down into a daily routine and begun to simply enjoy being here.  Here is some of our life.

Visas: Well, the visa saga has finally ended. Last week we each had separate half-hour interviews at the Foreign Police office to confirm that we were really married and knew the details of our wedding and life together (ie. that it wasn’t a marriage of convenience).  Fortunately we got most of the details right – all you newly engaged couples, make sure to remember the details.  This Monday, as we were walking together to Bethel, for Miro to start work, we got a phone call from the Foreign Police that we needed to do more paperwork.  When we got there, they told us our housing situation wasn’t clear and needed another change. So, dejected, we left the office.  But lo and behold, five minutes later they called and said that it was a mistake, that Christy could just come and get her temporary residence permit. And so, half an hour later Christy had her residence permit in hand. Surprisingly, it is valid for five years, until May 2014. The very same day Miro finally got his Czech ID card which allows him to travel all over the European Union (EU).  We celebrated with calling some of the folks here and having schnitzel and goulash.  It’s been such a long journey for us, that it was almost unbelievable.  So the long and short is that we will be here until Dec.10 with no more visits to the Foreign Police. We are so thankful to God. (Christy is the daughter of Joan & Wayne Nickerson.)

Soundproofing in Gymnasium

A sound thank you to all the folks who contributed to the installation of soundproofing in the gymnasium. Thanks to Phillip Cox, John Giffin, Ted Keddy, Ray Levy, Barry Matthews, Ralph Miller, Lloyd Mitchell, Murray Thomas, John Wentzell, Murrice Witherall, Pastor Bob and Bernie Levy who provided the scaffolding and to the Youth who donated $500.00 towards to cost. (Monies left over from their Mission Trip last summer.)

Floral Committee

Thanks to the Floral Committee for the new flower bed in front of the CE Wing. It is indeed a pleasure to enjoy the beauty of the flower beds that grace the church entrance.

Thank you to those who prayed for me while I had eye surgery. I am now waiting until the end of September for the results. Sylvia Dominey.
