Summer Coordinators/Facilitator Positions

We are currently accepting applications for the following positions: Community Children’s Program Coordinator, Community Youth Program Coordinator, Radio and Computer Lab Facilitator.  Should we get grants these positions will be available from May 19th until August 28th.  Interested applicants should submit their resumes to the church office prior to March 30th.

Easter Sessions will be starting this week. Come join us as we benefit  from a video series on the Death & Resurrection of the Messiah. These videos were filmed on location in Israel. See you Thursday

KidVenture Family Supper

Our March KidVenture family Supper was held on Wednesday night. We would like to thank Marion Grant, Darrell Harris, Ed & Dorothy Hughes, and Pastor Bob & Nancy Ohsberg for setup, serving and clean up. Thank also to those who provided food. Your contributions helped make this a successful event. We heard many positive comments and expressions of appreciation. We are looking for a few people to join us in planning for this exciting outreach. If you feel called to this important ministry, please contact Bob and Louise Archibald at 865-7077.

 

Lunch & Learn

Join us today 12:30-2:30 for a session on "Responding to the Needs of Aging ".  This session will cover some of the issues and challenges associated with aging. Dr. Valerie Lewis, Family Physician with interest and expertise in Care of the Elderly will talk about the common concerns that confront seniors.  Jackie Cajolais of the Sackville Senior’s Advisory Council will speak on the various resources that are available to Seniors. A light lunch will be served. This will be of interest to Seniors and those involved in their support and care.

 

Bluegrass & Gospel Concert

The Stewardship Committee would like to invite you to join them for a Bluegrass and Gospel Concert on Saturday, April 4th in the church gymnasium. The committee is requesting donations of items for a silent auction to be held in conjunction with the concert. Anyone able to donate items please contact the church office. Baked goods are welcomed!

 

Visitors Welcome at Myrtle’s Home

Myrtle Mayhew has been in the hospital for almost seven weeks. Tomorrow, Saturday, March 7th, a friend is bringing Myrtle to her apartment for a change of scenery. Myrtle will be at her apartment in Bedford, 2-4 in the afternoon. If you would like to drop by and visit her, pray for her, and encourage her, she would be pleased to see you.

Seniors, share your stories related to loss and change.  We will talk about strategies you use and learn new ways to cope with change.  Presented by: Capital Health.

 

Annual Meeting Licensing Committee

The Licensing Committee of the Halifax Baptist Association will be meeting on March 21 at Bedford Baptist, to consider applications for the Association Licence to Minister and the Association Lay Licence to Minister. If you have had an unrescinded Church Licence to Minister for at least one year and would like to apply for, or renew, an Association Licence, please contact Rev. Nelson Metcalfe, Chair of the Committee, at 835-5376 or at na.metcalfe@ns.sympatico.ca no later than March 10.

 

CABC Mission Rally

Bedford Baptist Church, March 21, @7:00pm. “How do we minister to new Canadians who come to Canada to live?” Dr. Barber, Director of Missional Initiative for the Baptist Convention of Ontario & Quebec will address the practical ways churches can reach out and minister effectively to new Canadians. The sessions will be interactive with opportunity for you to ask questions and reflect with him.

Pray with thanksgiving for the growing ministry of the Baptist Foundation as they assist our churches and agencies with financing for new church development, extension projects, and grants to strengthen various ministries of the Convention.

Upcoming Courses in Metro - Acadia Divinity College

In a continuing project of bringing theological education to Metro, Acadia Divinity College is offering two intensive courses this May. The first, May 11-15, is a theology elective about the end times called “What Lies Ahead.” It will be taught by Dr. Bill Brackney at Faith Baptist Church in Lower Sackville.

 

The second course is “Evangelism: The Church’s First Priority,” a core course in the M.Div. and B.Th. programs, taught by former ADC principal Dr. Andrew MacRae, May 25-30 at Bayers Road Baptist Church, Halifax. Both courses may be taken for academic credit (bursaries are available) or simply for interest (for only $150 each).
