Plant Sale

The Floral Committee is organizing a Plant Sale for May 30th. We are looking for donations of perennials, bushes, bulbs (Iris, Dahlias, Glads). Ice cream and margarine containers or cut down milk cartons can be used for transplanting. If you can help, plants can be left at the church office from Wednesday, May 27 to Friday, May 29 from 9-12noon. Please indicate plant’s name and color if known. Also a Garden Accessories table is planned so donations of tools, bird feeders, garden accents or garden books would be appreciated. Any questions please call Sandra @ 835-5893.

Congratulations!

Today, three men who were or still are members of our church - Lic. Kevin Haggarty, (our Youth Pastor and son of members Ian and Jeanette Haggarty) Borden Scott (son of members Walter and Susan Scott) and Christopher Drew (son of former members Ken and Sandra Drew and grandson of member Annie Pierce) will graduate from Acadia Divinity College.

Prayer Link

Baccalaureate and Spring Convocation services of Acadia Divinity College will be held today in Wolfville. Please pray for the graduates and for churches where they will be called to use their gifts for the benefit of God’s Kingdom. Pray also for the staff and faculty as they prepare for this special day in the lives of the students and of our Divinity College.

Summer Ministry Coordinators Jobs

The CE Committee will hear within a couple of weeks whether we will receive government grants. Because we have agreed to an open competition, particularly with visible minorities and those with disabilities, we will advertise in a variety of ways. With this in mind, we are re-opening the job postings for 3 summer ministry coordinators positions with hopes that we will be awarded grants. The jobs are all post- secondary education positions. We will also consider persons who are completing Grade 12 who are going on to post-secondary education this fall. However, the proposed start date would be May 20 and Grade 12 candidates would need to be willing to work part-time until school was finished. Please contact church office for further info and submit resumes to church office.

Senior’s Bus Trip

Our Seniors Bus Trip will be on Friday May 22. We will take in the sights of Truro, including the tulips and Victoria Park, and enjoy lunch at one of Truro's fine resturants. We will also visit Masstown Market. A donation of $15.00 is suggested to help cover the bus rental fee.  There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer for any who can join us. See you then.

Men’s Group

The Men’s group will be having a Men’s Breakfast at the church on Saturday May 23rd at 8:30am. For details please contact Randy Murphy or Ronzo Mantley.

Penny Auction

The Friendship Circle will be holding their annual Penny Auction fundraiser in the Heffler Room on Tuesday, May 12th, with Gordon Irving as our Auctioneer. Hats off to Gordon for giving us a lot of laughs and doing a fantastic job. Come and join in the fun!

New Beginnings Ministry

We are pleased to announce that Pastor Warren Clapham will be ministering at New Beginnings for the term as our Pastor of Family and Youth.  We are so blessed to have Pastor Warren and Pastor Sarah ministering with us.

Did You Know?

Spring Forth is the largest annual youth conference in Atlantic Canada. This year it was held in Moncton with 20 youth attending from Bedford Baptist. They offered three simultaneous tracks (Middle School; Senior High, and Leaders). This was an excellent opportunity for our young people to grow in their faith.

Beacon House is our local food bank. Food items can be placed in the Beacon House box (located in the foyer) at any time. Each month suggested items are listed in the bulletin. Following the third Sunday of the month, items placed in the box are delivered to Beacon House. Last year Beacon House helped over five thousand clients. For the month of May suggested items include: peanut butter, Ravioli or canned fruit. Thank you for your faithful support with this outreach.

Benevolent Fund is an outreach program sponsored by the Church under the leadership of the Deacons and Pastoral staff. On the first Sunday of the month special offering plates are placed at the back of the church. These monies are used to help people in Bedford/Sackville in need of assistance.
