Rapha Seminar

One in three people are affected by mental illness. Are you and your church prepared to provide an appropriate response to their needs. Are you able to be the support people need in their time of crisis?  Please mark October 17th on your calendar for an informative learning opportunity. Registration from 8:30- 9:15. Sunday Prayer Link

Being a PK (‘preacher’s kid’) can sometimes present unique challenges, particularly for children as they enter into their teen years. Approximately 80 clergy teens will gather September 25th – 27th at Bayside Camp in Halifax for LINK … a time of community, fun, worship, and encouragement in their Christian life. Please pray that God will increasingly reveal Himself to these youth, and will encourage them in their journey with Christ.

Induction Service

Anniversary Sunday & Dessert Buffet

Next Sunday we are celebrating our 110^th Anniversary. 

Special speaker will be Rev. Dr. Harry Gardner,

President, Acadia Divinity College. Our Sanctuary Choir will also be providing special music. Following the morning service everyone is invited to our Spaghetti Luncheon in the gymnasium. Please come back and join us at 6:00pm for our Pot-Luck Dessert Buffet. The evening will continue with the start of our Small Groups for the Fall

Reading Program –Only 1 Weeks Left

Only 1 more week before the finale of our Summer Reading Program. Come join us next Sunday after church for our Celebration during the Spaghetti Luncheon. Everyone who participated will be given a small prize. Over 250 books have been borrowed from our library since the “Summer Fun Reading Program” began! Over 80 folks have indicated that they have read books! Please be sure to let the Library Committee know how many you have read. Also, if you have not signed your name on one of the charts outside the Library, would you be so kind as to do so. (The list of prizes available is in library. For adults, prizes range from $5.00 - $25.00, many of which are gift certificates) Please see the list of prizes to ascertain the number of books needed for various prizes. Prizes can be picked up between now and Thanksgiving. Library will be closed after service on September 27^th.

Seniors Fall Bus Trip

Our bus trip is scheduled for this Friday, September 25. We are planning to have lunch at Old Orchard Inn. There will be a tour of the Botanical Gardens at Acadia University and our regular stop at Hennigar's. The bus will leave the church at 10:15 am. We expect to be back to the church around 5:00. A donation of $15 is suggested to help with the bus rental. There is a sign-up  sheet in the foyer.

Visitation Committee

The purpose of the Visiting Committee is “to show the love and compassion of Christ by having contact with those of our church family who are sick, shut-in, bereaved, or new to the church community to offer comfort and encouragement”. To aid us in fulfilling this role, it would be helpful if you would contact the Pastoral Staff or Miriam MacDonald, Coordinator of the Visiting Committee, (864-6208) if you know of someone we can be of assistance to in this way. This is particularly important if the person’s name has not been placed on the Sick and Shut-in List in the Sunday bulletin.

Exploring Your Faith – Discussions:  Perhaps you have some questions you would like to explore a bit. This group is open to experienced and new believers who want to look together at some of the important issues surrounding their faith. So old and new, come join us as we share, learn and laugh together. How do you picture the Holy Spirit? Our imagination is likely to run to something like a vague fuzzy cloud. Or perhaps we think of an invisible, impersonal force. No wonder the Holy Spirit is often called “it.” However, the Bible is clear that the Holy Spirit is a person. Scripture gives us strong word pictures of the Spirit as wind, fire, a counselor and anointing oil. This book will study these images and the participant will find mental pictures of the Spirit come into focus. And even better, you will find that you can have a real relationship with the Third Person of the Trinity. Forgiveness: Breaking the Power of the Past by Kay Arthur, David Lawson, B.J. Lawson

Forgiveness: Breaking the Power of the Past is 6-week small-group study for people who are interested in learning for themselves more about what the Bible says on various subjects, but who have only limited time to meet together. This liberating study deals with the difficult questions of forgiveness, including how can I forgive when the pain is so great? Does forgiving mean I have to forget the past?
