World Day of Prayer

World Day of Prayer 2010 - Friday, March 5th, 2:00pm at Bedford United Church.  The service has been prepared by the women of Cameroon and will be participated in by women from Baptist, United, Anglican and Catholic churches.  Everyone welcome!

 

Spring Thaw Beans & Brown Bread Luncheon

On Sunday March 14th, the Stewardship Committee will host their annual Baked Beans and Brown Bread luncheon following the morning worship service. Proceeds from the freewill offering will be used to offset the heating expenses for the church. In order to make the luncheon a success we are asking for donations of baked beans, brown bread, milk, butter and other items. A signup sheet is in the foyer for anyone who would like to help.

R.E.A.L.

As part of its celebration of African Heritage Month, "R.E.A.L., the Canadian Kids Magazine", has published a story written by Stephen Davidson in its February 2010 issue. "The Story of the Five Stones" recounts how a family remembers its black loyalist heritage by telling the story attached to each of five small stones the family has treasured for centuries. Bereavement

As a caring community of faith and love we extend our sincere Christian sympathy to husband, Stanley, Randy, Carolyn, Emily and Rachael Murphy on the death of Randy’s mother, Mabel Murphy, Wednesday, February 24th, 2010.  Funeral will be held on Monday, March 1, @10:00 am, Emmanuel Anglican Church, Herring Cove Road.

Benevolent Sunday is an opportunity to remember those who are in need. Next Sunday offering plates will be available at the back as you leave.

 

 

 

 

Grief Group

Rev. Henry Sharam is leading a 6 week grief group here at Bedford Baptist. It is not too late to join the group. If you would like to register please email Rev. Sharam at sharam@ns.sympatico.ca or call the church office @835-5966. The group meets on Fridays 10-11:30 am in the Heffler Room. This group is open to all so if you have a family member or friend who would also like to come, please feel free to invite them. The cost is $50.00 per person.

The reading program closes today so please let the library know how many books you have read. We will let you know some of the results next Sunday

We are in need of purple cloth for our Intergenerational on March 28th. If you have some material you are able to donate please drop it off at the church office.

We are looking for donations of clean, new or newly new clothes, toys, jewellery, china or antique dishes, household linens or purses. More information to follow.

 

Haiti Update from CBM

The planned implementation period for the emergency food distribution will be for two months:  February 10 – April 10, 2010. The project aims to reach 1200 families (approx. 7200 individuals). The primary criteria for selecting beneficiaries will be that their homes were either lost or substantially damaged and/or they lost their occupation. Priority will be given to special needs groups including single parent households, the elderly and the infirm. Each family (approx. 6 people) will receive the following rations over a two-month period: 57 kg of rice, 6 kg of beans, 6 litres of oil
