Summer Reading Program

Don’t forget about our exciting reading program that will continue all summer long. Make plans to drop into our library and discover worlds of fantasy, adventure, humour, wisdom, and insight. And don’t forget that beyond the normal learning rewards of reading books, there are also prizes available to be won for every 3 books that you read!

Church Fall Retreat

An exciting weekend awaits you and your family as the time for our annual Church Fall Retreat fast approaches (September 10th-12th). This year we’re taking advantage of the great facilities at our very own Bayside Camp for what will undoubtedly be a memorable weekend for all those choosing to attend. Look for registrations forms available today in the foyer.

Edu-Kid

We are beginning our annual Edu-Kid campaign to provide school supplies to those in need. We are looking for looseleaf, pencils, crayons, markers, coloured pencils, scissors, glue, duotangs, scribblers, binders, etc.

There is a box in the foyer where you can drop off donated supplies or you can make a donation (mark as “school supplies”) and supplies will be purchased on your behalf. Thank you for your support!

Bayside Camp Update

The wet weather during Junior High #2 did not damper the spirits of the campers as they learned who they are as God's created "masterpieces." One camper expressed that for the first time she heard that she was beautiful.  It was an extraordinary week here at Bayside with dozens of campers taking first or next steps in their relationship with Jesus.

Don't miss out this summer! Be part of the adventure by registering for one of our August camps:

Beginners - August 4-6 Space Available

Juniors #3 - August 8-13 Space Available

Junior High #4 - August 15-20  Waiting List (Girls) / Limited Space (Boys)

Senior High - August 22-27 Space Available

Registration is simple online at www.baysidecamp.org or by calling Nancy at (902) 868-1237.

Rides To Bayside

Transportation will be needed for 1 camper attending Juniors Camp from August 8 – 13 and 2 campers who are attending Senior High Camp at Bayside from August 22nd – 27th. (Their parents do not own a vehicle.) If you are able to help out, either driving the youth to camp that Sunday or picking them up that Friday, please contact the church office.

Providing transportation to Bayside Camp is an issue this church has to deal with from time to time. If you believe you can offer any assistance in this area, please contact the church office (835-5966) so that we can have a list available of potential drivers.

Volunteers Needed For Worship Services At Ivany Place

Rev. Jim Anderson, chaplain at the newly opened Ivany Place, is seeking help with worship services at the home, which take place every Friday at 2 PM. This is a meaningful time for residents and friends so if you are able to help in any way, with music, readings, speaking, prayer, etc., please see Pastor Ida or call 835-5966. We would like to commit to leading a service once every 6-8 weeks.

Invitation

You are cordially invited to attend the 157th Annual Session of the African United Baptist Association of Nova Scotia to be held at Inglewood United Baptist Church in the Annapolis Valley from August 13-15. The theme this year is “Sound The Alarm!!!” and the Main Speaker is Rev. Neville Callam, the Baptist World Alliance General Secretary. More information is available on the bulletin board in the foyer. Please contact the Church Office (835-5966) if you are interested in registering for the weekend.

Needs For Phoenix House

The Missions Committee wishes to thank those who have supported Phoenix House by donating peanut butter. We would like to suggest to those who may be travelling this summer that you may collect shampoo or soap and we will give these to Phoenix House after our anniversary service in September.

Farewell Luncheon For Malcolm & Patty Card

After serving faithfully with Canadian Baptist Ministries for over 25 years, Malcolm & Patty Card will be retiring in the next few months. To honour their contribution to CBM, a farewell luncheon will be held during CABC Oasis Assembly this year. The luncheon will take place at noon on Friday, August 20th at Gracie’s Café in the Student Centre of Mount Allison University. The cost is $15.00. Space is limited so if you wish to attend to pay your respects to the Cards, please RSVP Linda Naves at our Baptist Convention Office at 1-506-635-1922 or e-mail her at lnaves@cbmin.org by August 11th.
