Sunday Prayer Link

Atlantic Baptists own and operate 15 camps throughout Atlantic Canada. Please pray for the Executive Directors of these Camps and for their boards and staff, that through their leadership and vision, campers will have a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ this summer.

Our Prayer Initiative

We are invited to join together in prayer for one another. As we move through our fellowship alphabetically, look for your name to appear. If it doesn't, please let Peter know, for we wish to be in prayer for YOU. This week, please be in prayer for: Peter, Joanne, Sophie & Louise Hall, Darrell Harris, Cheryl & Heather Hartlen, and Robert & Patti Hartley.

There will be a meeting of the Visitation Committee on Wednesday, June 16th at 1:30 in the Heffler Room.

Yard Sale

Volunteers are needed to help with our upcoming Yard Sale on June 19th. We need people to help sort, sell, and clean up. We are looking for baked goods, linens, dishes, appliances, books, knick knacks, etc. These can be dropped off at the church and stored in the room off of the new kitchen. If you can be of assistance please call Lisa Rand (865-2237) or the Church Office (835-5966).

Deacons Pot Luck

The Deacons June Pot Luck will be on June 25, 2010 starting at 6:00 pm at Heather Cox’s.

Beacon House

Next Sunday is Beacon House Sunday. The ten top items needed by Beacon House for the month of June are: tea, sugar, canned vegetables, ravioli, stew, baby food (fruit), spaghetti, juice, (large cans), condiments (ketchup, mustard, relish), and diapers.

We will be putting on a gigantic yard sale next Saturday, June 19th from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon. This event will go on rain or shine (outside in the parking lot if the weather cooperates, inside in the gymnasium if it doesn’t). Hundreds of items will be up for grabs so make plans to attend so that you can pick up those hard to find collectors items. Remember: one person’s junk is another person’s treasure!

Please Note: All proceeds from the Yard Sale will go towards subsidizing the cost of our Church Family Retreat to be held from September 10-12 in the fall. The cost of the family camp will be more this year because the facilities are better and all the meals are prepared for us. We have determined that the cost (subsidized) will be $60.00 for each adult and $30.00 for each child 6-18. Children 5 and under are free. Saturday only with 2 meals is $30.00.

Grad & Dad Barbecue & Church Family Picnic

The Grad & Dad Barbecue and Church Family Picnic is next Sunday, June 20th immediately following the worship service. It will be set up on the side of the church by the gym entrance There will be games in the gymnasium for all children so make plans to come and join the fun! This event is sponsored by the CE Committee and our Summer Ministry Coordinators.

Phoenix House Needs Our Help

The Missions Committee would like to bring to our church's attention the need from Phoenix House. Phoenix House provides at least 10 different programs for at risk and homeless youth. They have a list of ways people can help. One is volunteering and another is providing non-perishable food stuffs. If you feel called to be a volunteer you may contact Mission Committee members for the varied ways of helping. We are also planning to have a food donation twice a year. This time we are collecting peanut butter. A  Phoenix House  donation bin will be placed in the foyer on June 20. A small donation of peanut butter will go a long way in supporting this local community project.

Bed & Chair Available

For anyone interested, 1 hospital bed and 1 wheel chair are available at no cost and the donator will deliver.  Call Jerry at 865-6139.

Food For Thought

"The essence of optimism is that it takes no account of the present, but it is a source of inspiration, of vitality and hope where others have resigned; it enables a man to hold his head high, to claim the future for himself and not to abandon it to his enemy."

  - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
