Benevolent Sunday

This Sunday you have an opportunity to remember those who are in need. Offering plates will be available at the back as you leave. All money will go to the Benevolent Fund to help those in need.

Sunday Prayer Link

Pray with thanksgiving for the growing ministry of the Baptist Foundation as they assist our churches and agencies with financing for new church development, extension projects, and grants to strengthen various ministries of the Convention.

Our Prayer Initiative

We are invited to join together in prayer for one another. As we move through our fellowship alphabetically, look for your name to appear. If it doesn't, please let Sharon know, for we wish to be in prayer for YOU. This week, please be in prayer for: Mitchell Chase, Franklyn, Li Dana, Alian &Rave Chen; Jean Clayton; Shelly VanUlden-Clayton

Praise God

We have just received word that Ian McKinnon’s daughter, Eliana and her husband Greg Clay are safe after the massive earthquake in Chile. No one in Eliana’s immediate family was hurt although they experienced a lot of property damage.

Prayer Requests

Please note that the email for prayer requests has been changed to:

Birthday Greetings

Best wishes are extended to Joan Lugar who is celebrating her 86th birthday today, March 7th.

Best wishes are extended to Mona Ellis who celebrates her 90th birthday on Monday, March 8th.

Anniversary Congratulations

Congratulations to Ronald and Mollie Graham who are celebrating 63 years of marriage on Monday, March 8th.

Winter Reading Program

The Winter Reading Adventure finished Feb 28th, but the celebration is today.  Even if you read only one book, bring your completed pamphlet to the library after church so all your books can be tallied. So far we know of 37 people who have participated and that over 335 books have been read. Come and enjoy some refreshments and get a prize.  If you cannot make it today, the tally and prizes will continue throughout the month.

Beans & Brown Bread Luncheon

Come and join us next Sunday, March 14, after the morning worship for our annual Baked Beans and Brown Bread luncheon. Proceeds from the freewill offering will be used to offset the heating expenses for the church. In order to make the luncheon a success we are asking for donations of baked beans, brown bread, milk, butter and other items. A signup sheet is in the foyer for anyone who would like to help.

Clothing Sale Coming May 1st

We are looking for donations of clean, new or nearly new clothes, toys, jewellery, china or antique dishes, household linens, footwear or purses.

Help Needed

We are also looking for volunteers to help sort clothes, set out clothes on Friday, April 30th, take a shift on Saturday, May 1st, and do tear-down after the clothing sale. Please contact church office if able to help.

To Give Away

There is a “state of the art” hospital bed (motorized) that is no longer needed. If you have a need for it or know of someone who has a need, please contact the church office as soon as possible.

Senior’s Social

A Dessert Social and Hymn Sing is planned for our Seniors on Saturday, March 20, at 6:30 pm in the church vestry. The dessert will be created by Jenn Cox and our youth will be serving. There is no fee, but attendees will be given the opportunity to make a donation to help support our youth in their Mission Tour to New York city this summer. We hope to have some seniors from Faith Baptist join us in this event.  What a great

way to welcome in the Spring!

Fall Retreat

People interested in attending the Church Fall Retreat at Bayside Camp are invited to attend a meeting in the Heffler Room after the service on Sunday March 21st. For more information please contact Ben Levy 827-1481

ABC Book Club

The Avid Book Readers met this week and chose to read the Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill.  If you would like to join us in discussion on this intriguing book we will meet again on April 8 at 1:00 in the Church Library.  Come and enjoy the discussion and the fun in getting to know some other readers.  For more information contact Janette Haggarty (865-0440) or Kathy Cochrane (864-3069; krc@ns.sympatico.ca)

R.E.A.L.

As part of its celebration of African Heritage Month, "R.E.A.L., the Canadian Kids Magazine", has published a story written by Stephen Davidson in its February 2010 issue. "The Story of the Five Stones" recounts how a family remembers its black loyalist heritage by telling the story attached to each of five small stones the family has treasured for centuries. This is Stephen's first published work for children. Available by subscription or individual order only, the magazine has a website you can visit for more information: http://www.realkidsmag.com/about.html
