Open House - Christina and Hedley Ivany Place

Northwood is currently accepting residents for the long-term facility, Christina & Hedley Ivany Place located in West Bedford. The new facility will have 144 rooms for up to 156 residents. There will also be an Adult Dementia Day Program. You are invited to an Open House for faith community members on Thursday, June 3rd, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, 123 Gary Martin Drive, Bedford. You will receive a guided tour of the facility and information on how your faith family can minister to the residents and staff. Please pray for  Heather Goodwin and Sandra Hatfield as well as other staff of our ‘Baptist Bookroom’ (www.baptistbookroom.com) located in Saint John as they resource churches and individuals throughout Atlantic Canada by providing books, music, curriculum and other resources. Pray that their efforts will contribute to our churches becoming increasingly vibrant, healthy and effective in extending the Gospel of His Kingdom into their communities and world.

Prayer Chain News

The prayer chain appears to be working fine with 6 telephone participants and 23 email participants. Email was added this year and allows those who feel they are unable to pass prayer requests on, to participate as they can get the request and pray. Bereavement

As a caring community of faith and love we extend our sincere Christian sympathy to Lois Long, Carol, Stephen, Gordon and grandchildren on the death of Gordon Long Sr. who passed away on Thursday, May 13th. We also extend our sympathy to Lloyd and Lynda Mitchell.

 

Child Dedication Service

On Sunday, May 30, we will be having a Presentation of Children and the Dedication of Parents to Their Christian Nurture service. If you would like to present your child please contact Pastor Bob or Pastor Ida. @ 835-5966 or speak with them directly.

Banns of Marriage

Notice is hereby given of the intended marriage of Joshua Adam Levy and Erin Kathleen Hamilton both of Halifax. The marriage is to be held in the Bedford Baptist Church at 2:30 o’clock on Saturday, the 5th of June, 2010. Any persons who believe they have just cause why these two people should not marry are exhorted to speak to the officiating pastor, the Rev. Jonathan Dixon, New Minas Baptist Church, before the aforesaid date or forever hold their peace.

 

Understanding Your Teen

Come to an outstanding parent conference “Understanding Your Teen”, led by Marv Penner an internationally renowned family professional.  If you have a pre-teen or a teenager this is a seminar you don’t want to miss, Today, May 16th, 2:00-5:00 pm here at Bedford Baptist Church.  Tickets: $7.00 per person or $10.00 a couple.

Plant Sale

The Floral Committee is organizing a Plant Sale for May 22nd. We are looking for donations of perennials, bushes, bulbs (Iris, Dahlias, Glads). Ice cream and margarine containers or cut down milk cartons can be used for transplanting. If you can help, plants can be left at the church office from Wednesday, May 19 to Friday, May 21 from 9-12noon. Please indicate plant’s name and color if known. Also a Garden Accessories table is planned. Donations of tools, bird feeders, garden accents or garden books would be appreciated. Any questions call Sandra @ 835-5893.

Bayside Camp Open House

Saturday, June 12, 1:00pm to 7:00pm. A family-fun free event to start the summer off right!

A day of fun for the entire family featuring our friends 4GIVEN, and Al Bernard. There’ll also be guided tours, a time of celebration, camp activities and free BBQ. (An offering will be collected for those wishing to contribute to the summer.

 

Women’s Connection

Women's Connection, Wednesday, May 19th, 9:30-11:00 am @Rockingham United Church, Flamingo Drive.  Ryan McMahan from Edible Arrangements will show us some unique gift ideas; soloist is Joanne Gronvigh accompanied by Susan MacKinnon. Donna Smith, North River, NB is our guest speaker.  Refreshments and nursery care will be provided for a small cost of $7.00.  Be sure to telephone Trish at 445-7178 to reserve.
