Senior’s Spring Bus Trip

Our bus trip is scheduled for Friday, June 11. Our main feature will be a visit to Ross Farm Museum in New Ross. On our way we will enjoy lunch at a restaurant on the South Shore. We will be returning by way of Kentville. Seniors from Faith Baptist in Lower Sackville will be joining us. A $15.00 donation is encouraged to help cover the cost of chartering the bus. A sign-up sheet will be available next Sunday for all those seniors wishing to take part.

 

 

Convention Delegates

As a church we have the opportunity to send delegates to our annual Convention Assembly/Oasis being held August 18 to August 21 in Sackville, New Brunswick. If you would like to be a delegate please speak with one of the pastors.

Friendship Circle

The Friendship Circle is having their closing luncheon at Toms’ Restaurant in Lower Sackville, Tuesday, May 25th at 12:00 noon. We will carpool at the church at 11:30 am.


 

Sunday Prayer Link

Pastors and other church ministry staff, as well as their spouses, will be gathering in Truro tomorrow and Tuesday (May 24th and 25th) to attend a financial/retirement planning seminar hosted by our Convention’s Board of Ministers’ Annuity. Please pray that God will give His wisdom as they listen to presentations relating to stewardship issues related to preparing for retirement.

Prayer Chain News

The prayer chain appears to be working fine with 6 telephone participants and 23 email participants. Email was added this year and allows those who feel they are unable to pass prayer requests on, to participate as they can get the request and pray. Child Dedication Service

Next Sunday, May 30, we will be having a Presentation of Children and the Dedication of Parents to Their Christian Nurture service. If you would like to present your child please contact Pastor Bob or Pastor Ida. @ 835-5966 or speak with them directly.

 

New Office Administrator

The Trustees would like to announcement that Peter Metcalfe will be new Office Administrator. He will commence his duties on May 31st. Congratulation Peter!

Banns of Marriage

Notice is hereby given of the intended marriage of Joshua Adam Levy and Erin Kathleen Hamilton both of Halifax. The marriage is to be held in the Bedford Baptist Church at 2:30 o’clock on Saturday, the 5th of June, 2010. Any persons who believe they have just cause why these two people should not marry are exhorted to speak to the officiating pastor, the Rev. Jonathan Dixon, New Minas Baptist Church, before the aforesaid date or forever hold their peace.

There is a sign-up sheet available in the foyer for our 2010 Graduates. If you are graduating from High School, College or University please let us know. If you wish, you may email your information to the church office at office@bedfordbaptist.ca  Thank you.

 

Hike

There will be a group hike taking place on Saturday, May 29th up Labrador Castle near Chester.  Please meet in the church parking lot at 9:30 am and bring a bag lunch.  Minimum age is 12.  If you are between 12 and 15 years old, please bring a parent or adult with you.  There are small sections of this hike that are steep, so discretion is advised if you have difficulty with rugged terrain. This is a good opportunity to bring a relative, friend, neighbour, or co-worker along for some quality conversation on the trail. (Rain date is June 12th).

Job Posting

South End Baptist Church, in Dartmouth, has received a Federal Grant to hire a summer student. This position is open to students who are under 30 and will be in post secondary education in the Fall of 2010. The work term is June 14 – August 29, 2010. (12 weeks)

The salary is $12.00 hour for a 30 hour week. Deadline for resumes, with a cover letter and three references, has been extended to May 31. See bulletin board for more details.

 

Grand Day

The Cobequid Community Health Centre Foundation is holding its first annual “Grand Day” for Cobequid fundraiser on Sat., June 26 on Grand Lake.  It is a canoe and kayaking event that will raise money to purchase medical equipment for the Cobequid Community Health Centre.  Information can be found at pledge.cobequidfoundation.ca or call Kris Allen at 869-6128.

Open House - Christina and Hedley Ivany Place

Northwood is currently accepting residents for the long-term facility, Christina & Hedley Ivany Place located in West Bedford. The new facility will have 144 rooms for up to 156 residents. There will also be an Adult Dementia Day Program. You are invited to an Open House for faith community members on Thursday, June 3rd, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, 123 Gary Martin Drive, Bedford. You will receive a guided tour of the facility and information on how your faith family can minister to the residents and staff. Bayside Camp Open House

Saturday, June 12, 1:00pm to 7:00pm. A family-fun free event to start the summer off right!

A day of fun for the entire family featuring our friends 4GIVEN, and Al Bernard. There’ll also be guided tours, a time of celebration, camp activities and free BBQ. (An offering will be collected for those wishing to contribute to the summer.
