Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease, and the impact it makes, presents significant challenges for patients, family, friends and caregivers. Understanding these challenges and sharing our questions and concerns has the potential to shape attitudes and foster strategies which can bring help to those dealing with the affect of this disease in their daily lives.  A workshop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, in the church parlor of First Baptist Church, Dartmouth, with Dr. Lara Hazelton, a geriatric psychiatrist operating out of the Nova Scotia Hospital, Dartmouth and John Dicks, an occupational Therapist with Seniors Mental Health at the Nova Scotia Hospital. The workshop will consist of a presentation and a question and answer session. Refreshments will follow.

Incorporation of the Canadian Atlantic Baptist Convention

On Saturday, May 15, 2010, the Halifax Region United Baptist Association is hosting a morning meeting from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm at Bedford Baptist Church to discuss the third draft of the General Operating Bylaw. We will be discussing the rights, responsibilities and expectations of members in the new Convention and the questions that remain to be answered regarding local church autonomy and the impact all these changes will have on all of us. Pastors, deacons, moderators, church clerks, church members, as well as Association council members should attend this half day workshop. Delegates to Oasis in August should find it helpful in increasing their understanding of the document so that more informed decisions can be made when the General Operating Bylaw comes to a vote. Please plan to attend this very important meeting.
