Muriel Bent Women’s Missionary Society
Jean Rushton WMS Thursdays @ 2 p.m.
The Jean Rushton W.M.S. is an organization of women who are always finding new opportunities to show the love of God to others. Our "mission" may be in our neighbourhood like Phoenix and Bryony Houses or supporting our friends Joyce Hancock in Brazil and the Carters in the Czech Republic. We meet on the first Thursday of every month at 2:00 in the afternoon in the Heffler Room at the Church. The teapot is always ready after our brief business meetings and program. You would be welcome to just be a visitor, and check us out (no strings attached!)

Are you interested in missions but unable to attend in the afternoon? We enjoy learning, praying and ministering in local and global missions. Check out the Muriel Bent W.M.S. which meets in the evenings. This group meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Heffler Room.

Family Movie Nights
Check our Home page for schedule
Family Movie Nights began over a year ago with a vision for everybody – singles, families, teens - in our church to experience fellowship and to be able to engage in outreach to the community. Our church purchased a license to view pre-released movies. In the summers, these movie nights move into our church parking lot and we watch the movies, “Drive-In” style.
Spaghetti Luncheon
4th Sunday of every month after the worship service
We've been holding spaghetti socials since the summer of 2002, however they've changed drastically since they began. Originally they were held in the community room of the Superstore as a fundraiser for mission tours. We then continued them at the church, generally holding two per summer. It was last September that we recognized these dinners as a valuable outreach tool, and the youth group outreach committee began holding them monthly, every Thursday night. We had a few devoted diners to these meals, however found we weren't bringing in very many people. Due to a scheduling conflict we ended up holding one of our socials immediately following the Sunday service and realized we'd found our place. Since then, we've been providing spaghetti and ice cream sundaes the third Sunday of every month.
Although we do take up a free-will offering for summer missions, our primary focus is fellowship and outreach. If you haven't attended a spaghetti social yet, we encourage you to attend. We usually feed 50 to 60 people, and often see new faces at the tables. We will continue these dinners through the year, giving you a chance to catch up with members of the congregation, meet new friends within the church and, most importantly, invite people who don't normally come to church. By holding these socials, we are providing a "safe" atmosphere for seekers to allow them to become comfortable with the people of the church in the hopes that they will find a place for themselves here as well.
Sewing Circle
Tuesdays @ 2 p.m.
The Bedford Baptist Sewing Circle is a group of ladies, mostly from the church, which meets every Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Heffler Room. They set aside approximately two hours each week to participate in knitting, sewing and other crafts, socializing and enjoying a cup of tea. During the year they have a craft sale in the mall and are able to earn money to further their work and also the work of the church. They have 20 -25 in our group each week and would welcome any newcomers of any age who would like to join them.
